    Creating Email Accounts

Creating email accounts in your Greenest Host control panel is easy:

  • Login to your control panel
  • From your control panel's quick access menu, select the email icon
  • Under the "Email Setup Functions" menu, select "New E-mail"
  • Create an email address name, check the Mailbox box and create a unique password.
  • Click the "Submit" button to create your account

  • Using the Web to Access Your Mail

The Horde Web Mail service can be accessed by any web browser on any computer and works very simarly to popular web email services such as Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and Microsoft Live Hotmail. To access Horde, just go to http://mail.yourdomain.com in your web browser.

Once at mail.yourdomain.com, select the "IMP-mail client" option. Login using your full email address and the email password you set up when you created your email account.

You can also access Horde by selecting the Web Mail icon from the Quick Access screen when you first login to your account. Just enter the email address and the password of the account you want to use.

Getting Access with Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird

Setting up desktop mail software to work with your account is generall pretty straightforward. The following sections below offer a quick tutorial if you are new to setting up email in desktop software applications or should you encounter any issues, but the settings you need to know when creating a new account for POP3/SMTP access are:

  • Email Address: The email address you created using the Email Setup in your Domain Control Panel
  • Incoming Mail Server (POP3): mail.greenesthost.com
  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): mail.greenesthost.com
  • Username: username@yourdomain.com (The email address you created using the Email Setup in your Domain Control Panel)
  • Password: The password you created when you created the account using the Email Setup in your Domain Control Panel
  • Make sure you check that your "outgoing server requires authentication" in the Outgoing Server tab "More Settings" window
  • The default ports are correct (port 110 for POP3 and port 25 for SMTP)
  • Screenshot of sample Outlook settings

Sample screenshots of Outlook's "More Settings" tabs. Once you're done setting up the account you should "Test Account Settings." If for any reason, the outgoing message fails, please see the detailed SMTP setup information below.

    SMTP Setup

With most ISPs, your Outlook settings for SMTP should point to smtp.greenesthost.com and use the same login and password as if you were accessing your account through web mail. Just make sure that in Advanced Settings, you check that your outgoing mail server requires authentication and it uses the same login information as your incoming mail server.

However, some ISPs have differing policies about allowing SMTP access via relays. When you are setting up Outlook or Thunderbird for Internet access, you may find that mail.greenesthost.com will not work as an outgoing (SMTP) mail server. While there are several workarounds for this, one of the easiest is to use the SMTP setting of your own ISP instead.

To the best of our knowledge, the list below is accurate. However, if you find that the suggestion for your ISP does not work, or is not listed, you will have to check with your Internet Service Provider for the correct server setting. Once you do have information that you think should be updated or added to this list, please feel free to let us know.
